A Funnel chart of a sales process, with width values at left and height values at right.

A Funnel chart of a sales process, with width values at left and height
values at right.

Overview

The Funnel Chart is best used to compare the values of a metric as it proceeds through stages, with a second metric used to track each stage's progress: for example, the number of leads in each stage of a sales process, and the average length in time of each stage, as shown at right.

You can also choose to include only height values to produce a funnel that automatically narrows in width to show a funnel shape, or only width values to produce a funnel where each segment has an equal height.

Note: When specifying a width metric, each value must be less than the previous in order to produce a funnel shape, for example: a metric that always declines over time.

  • This chart is represented by the DashboardFunnelChart class, which has common chart properties and interactions.
  • This chart accepts up to two metrics from the KPI or dataset, and an optional X axis dimension describing each funnel segment. Each metric is optional, but both are recommended:
    1. Height: the proportion of the total funnel height that a segment represents—the funnel height represents the sum of all height values. When specifying width values, use height values to measure progress from the previous value (the first height value is ignored).
    2. Width: the width of a funnel segment relative to the others—use to compare the various width values.
  • Funnel is a freeform chart type, and may only be combined with other series with the Chart Type set to Funnel. All series are combined into a single funnel.
  • When a series is Funnel, its type and properties are those of the DashboardFunnelDataSeries class.

Features

The width and height values of a funnel can each be labeled separately at the appropriate locations of the funnel data points, and typically both are enabled. For details on enabling and positioning data point labels, see Using Charts.

There is also a three-dimensional skin available.
