Error

There was a problem reading from the selected Dundas Dashboard instance:Failed to connect to server Server_Name.

Symptoms

This error appears in the deployment center when trying to install or upgrade. For installation, it appears when the databases are configured. For upgrading, it appears in the step where the existing dashboard instance is selected.

Cause

The error is caused when the user you are logging in with i.e. the one doing the install or upgrade does not have the appropriate privileges to the dashboard application databases.

When you perform an upgrade, the upgrader will read the credentials from the Dundas.Dashboard.config file and then use those credentials. If you are using integrated security, the user doing the upgrade is expected to have access to the application databases.

Resolution

  • Check the permissions to the application databases and grant the appropriate permissions to the user.
  • Run the installation or upgrade again.
