Overview

The HTML Home Settings option lets administrators configure various settings related to the HTML Home screen.

Initial dashboards for the home screen

Administrators can choose one or more initial dashboards to appear (as tiles) when a user logs in to the HTML Home screen. Note that after users have started to customize their home screens, these settings no longer apply to them (unless the reset operation is performed).

To update the list of initial dashboards:

  1. Click Administration in the sidebar.
  2. Double-click the HTML Home Settings item in the sidebar.
  3. At the top of the screen, select a project containing one or more dashboards that you want to feature.
  4. Select a dashboard from the list on the left.
  5. Click the Add button to add the dashboard to the list on the right.
  6. If you want to remove a dashboard from the list, select the dashboard, and then click Remove.
  7. Use the arrow buttons in the top-right corner to change the order of your initial dashboards.
  8. Click Save in the toolbar when you've chosen the dashboards you want to feature.

When a user goes to the HTML Home URL and logs in for the first time, tiles corresponding to the chosen dashboards will be displayed.

Protected tiles

In Dundas Dashboard 5.0.2 or later, dashboard tiles can be designated as being protected. If you add such tiles to the list of initial dashboards, and then propagate the changes to users (via the reset option), the users won't be able to remove the tiles from their home screens.

See Designing Dashboards and Tiles for HTML Viewing for more details.

Recreating dashboard thumbnails

This option lets you recreate all of the thumbnails of dashboards in the selected project so that they have the preferred size (&ie; 150 × 150 pixels) for the HTML Explorer/Home screen. (Prior to version 4.0, thumbnails of size 64 × 64 pixels were used.)

This process may take a long time to complete, depending on the number of dashboards that are present in the selected project. When the generation is complete, you may need to clear your browser's cache before you can see the new and sharper-looking thumbnails in the HTML Explorer/Home.

Reset the home screen for all users

This option lets you reset the HTML Home screen for all users of this Dundas Dashboard instance. After applying this option, the list of initial dashboards as specified above will be displayed in the home screen for all users the next time they log in. If no initial dashboards have been selected, users will see an empty home screen.

Confirmation for this operation is required since all of the home screen customizations by users will be reset, and the operation cannot be undone.
