Overview

Dundas Dashboard can connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.

Dynamics CRM 4.0 is not directly supported but there is a workaround as described here.

Connecting to Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Note: To use this data provider, you must install Windows Identity Foundation on the Dundas Dashboard server. See System Requirements for details. Windows XP is not supported.

From the General tab of the Data Connector Designer screen, configure the data provider for Microsoft Dynamics CRM as follows:

  1. Select the Authentication type from these options:
    • Active Directory
    • Claims On-Premises
    • Online using Windows Live ID
    • Office 365 Deployment
  2. Depending on the authentication type, there are additional fields to set.

Active Directory

For the Active Directory authentication type:

  1. Enter the URL of the Discovery server.
  2. Type a Windows User name.
  3. Enter the Windows Domain and Password.

Online using Windows Live ID

For the Online using Windows Live ID authentication type:

  1. Set the Discovery server to: https://dev.crm.dynamics.com.
  2. Enter the User name and Password.

Office 365 Deployment

For the Office 365 Deployment authentication type:

  1. Set the Discovery server to: https://your-organization-name.crm.dynamics.com.
  2. Enter the User name and Password.

Connecting via SQL Server

If you are using Dynamics CRM on premises, you can alternatively connect directly to SQL Server (database filtered views) instead of using the “Microsoft Dynamics CRM” data provider. In most cases, this will result in better performance. See this MSDN article for more details:

If you are using Dynamics CRM 4.0, note that the “Microsoft Dynamics CRM” data provider will not be able to connect to it since the minimum required version is Dynamics CRM 2011. However, a workaround is to connect to its database filtered views (SQL Server) as described in this article:
