Overview

Dundas Dashboard can connect to the Salesforce CRM, allowing you to add data visualization on top of your sales/CRM system.

Connecting to Salesforce

From the General tab of the Data Connector Designer screen, configure the data provider for Salesforce as follows:

  1. Type your Salesforce user name in the User name box.
  2. In the Password box you must enter your Salesforce password and append to it your Salesforce security token. For example, if your password is mypassword, and your security token is XXXXXXXXXX, then you must enter mypasswordXXXXXXXXXX. See this article for more details.
  3. Click Advanced to set advanced options.

Notes

  • Manual SOQL queries are supported, as well as relationship queries.
  • For relationship queries, XML is returned in the “relationship” columns.

Limitations

Current limitations with using this provider:

  • Using the COUNT() function by itself is not supported. For example, the following query will not work, SELECT COUNT() FROM Contact.
  • Using a standard virtual table to join Salesforce tables is not supported. A workaround is to create a manual virtual table instead and specify a SOQL relationship query to handle joins. Note that a relationship must exist in Salesforce between the tables you want to join (⪚ parent-to-child, etc).
