Overview

Dundas Dashboard can connect to the following SAP data sources:

  • SAP MaxDB 7.x
  • SAP NetWeaver BW 7.0 (OLAP)

Connecting to SAP MaxDB

From the General tab of the Data Connector Designer screen, configure the data provider for SAP MaxDB as follows:

  1. Type the SAP server name in the Server Name box.
  2. Enter the database name in the Database box.
  3. Enter the SAP user's name and password under the Logon information section.

Connecting to SAP NetWeaver BW

Activate the XMLA web service in SAP

In order to connect to SAP NetWeaver BW, the XMLA Web Service (XML for Analysis) must be configured and activated on the SAP side. See this white paper by Microsoft for details.

Set up the data connector

From the General tab of the Data Connector Designer screen, configure the data provider for SAP BW as follows:

  1. Type the SAP server URL in the Server box. The format should be: http://SAPServerName/sap/bw/xml/soap/xmla
  2. Enter a SAP user name in the User box.
  3. Enter the SAP user's password in the Password box.
  4. Select an infocube using the InfoCube dropdown list.
  5. Select the Show InfoCube in Cubes List option if you want the infocube to appear in the list of discovered cubes when you save the data connector and discover its data structures.

Tip: HTTPS connections are supported.
