Overview

Dundas Dashboard can connect to the following versions of Microsoft SQL Server:

  • SQL Server 2005
  • SQL Server 2005 Express
  • SQL Server 2008
  • SQL Server 2008 R2
  • SQL Server 2008 Express
  • SQL Server 2012
  • SQL Server 2012 Express

Connecting to SQL Server

From the General tab of the Data Connector Designer screen, configure the data provider for Microsoft SQL Server as follows:

  1. Click inside the Server name auto-complete box. A discovery of available servers on your network is initiated. A dropdown menu will appear if one or more servers are found.
  2. Choose a server name from the resulting dropdown menu (if applicable) or type the name of the SQL Server instance in the Server name box.
  3. To connect to your SQL Server instance using Windows Authentication, select the Use Windows Integrated security option.
  4. To connect to your SQL Server instance using SQL Server Authentication, select the Use SQL Server security option, then enter a username and password in the boxes provided.
  5. Click inside the Database name auto-complete box. A discovery of available databases from your SQL Server instance is initiated. A dropdown menu will appear if one or more databases are found.
  6. Choose a database name from the resulting dropdown menu (if applicable) or type the name of a database in the box provided.

Notes

  • Discovery of servers hosted on Amazon AWS is not supported. You can manually enter the server name of the cloud-hosted server in this case.
