Overview

Dundas Dashboard for SharePoint is a Web Part that lets your SharePoint users view and interact with available dashboards from your Dundas Dashboard server.

You install the Dundas Dashboard Viewer Web Part on your SharePoint server after Dundas Dashboard has already been installed.

Before You Begin

Before you begin installing Dundas Dashboard for SharePoint, please make sure you meet these requirements.

What you need on the Dundas Dashboard server

Dundas DashboardDundas Dashboard 5.0

Please note that if Dundas Dashboard is installed on Windows XP you will not be able to connect to Dundas Dashboard using the SharePoint web part.

To ensure full compatibility, the version of Dundas Dashboard that you have (⪚ 5.0.0.1000) should match the version of Dundas Dashboard for SharePoint that you are planning to install.

It is also possible to install Dundas Dashboard on your SharePoint server, and have it run off a different web site, port, or virtual directory than SharePoint.

What you need on the SharePoint server

Operating systemWindows Server 2003 SP2 or
Windows Server 2008 (Server Core is not supported) or
Windows Server 2008 R2 (Server Core is supported with SP1 or later) or
Windows Server 2012
SharePointWindows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 or
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (All Editions) or
Microsoft SharePoint 2010 (All Editions) or
Microsoft SharePoint 2013 (All Editions)

Note: This article does not cover the installation or configuration of Microsoft SharePoint software. Please refer to Microsoft's SharePoint web site for information on how to install and configure your server to support and run Microsoft SharePoint Services.

What you need on the client

The client-side requirements are the same as the client-side requirements for Dundas Dashboard.

Note: When the Dundas Dashboard application is hosted within SharePoint, the application will still need to communicate directly with clients. In other words, you must ensure that your clients are able to log in to Dundas Dashboard normally outside of SharePoint. For example, you may need to adjust your network firewall settings to permit your clients to access not only the SharePoint site but also the Dundas Dashboard site.

Installation on your SharePoint server

Deployment Center

When you first run the Deployment Center installer on the SharePoint server, it will ask you to install certain additional software that is required by the Deployment Center. If for some reason you do not want to install these prerequisites on your SharePoint server, you can copy the Deployment Center application to your server and run it from there, thus bypassing the installer. In this case, the only prerequisite is .NET 4.0. Here are the steps for this option:

  1. Go to your Dundas Dashboard server and locate the Deployment Center installation folder. By default, this will be: C:\Program Files\Dundas Data Visualization Inc\Dundas Dashboard\Deployment Center\5.0
  2. Copy the contents of this folder to your SharePoint server and run the program: Dundas.Dashboard.Deployment.exe

All the SharePoint functionality can be found using the Deployment Center within the Extras section.

  • Add the Dundas Dashboard SharePoint Web Part

  • Remove the Dundas Dashboard SharePoint Web Part

  • Save the Dundas Dashboard SharePoint Web Part Solution

Note: In order to see all three of these options, the machine running the deployment center, must have SharePoint server installed. Otherwise, only the "Save the Dundas Dashboard SharePoint Web Part" menu item will be visible.
