Creating a new dashboard

After you've logged in to &dw;, you can create a new dashboard as follows:

  1. In the Design Explorer, select the Dashboards folder from the sidebar.
  2. Click the menu button to display the Dashboards menu (or do a right-click with your mouse).
    The Menu button.
  3. From the menu, choose New Dashboard.
New Dashboard creates a new dashboard.

Creating a dashboard from a template

If you have an existing dashboard template, you can create a dashboard that will be based on the template in one of two ways.

Start with the template

Create a new dashboard by locating the desired template in the Design Explorer:

  1. Expand the Project Resources (or Shared Resources) folder in the Design Explorer.
  2. Expand the Dashboard Templates folder.
  3. Select the desired template, then click its menu button.
  4. From the menu, choose New Dashboard from Template.
    The Dashboard Template menu.
  5. Select the dashboard type and dashboard format for your new dashboard.
    Dashboard type and format.
  6. Click Create to create the new dashboard.
  7. Enter the new dashboard's name and hit Enter.

The Dashboard Designer opens with a new dashboard that includes all of the items found in the selected dashboard template. In the Properties list for the newly created dashboard, the following properties are read-only (as they are inherited from the template):

  • Background
  • Re-Size Mode
  • Height
  • Maximum Height
  • Maximum Width
  • Minimum Height
  • Minimum Width
  • Width

In addition, the Template property of the dashboard shows the name of the selected template.

  2. Locate the Template property and click its ellipsis button.

  4. Click OK. The selected template is applied to the dashboard.

Note: This procedure will overwrite your dashboard's previous settings.

Reset template back to Null

To revert the dashboard back to its default settings (i.e. no template):

  1. Click the small menu button beside the Template property value in the Properties list.
  2. From the menu, choose Reset.
    Reset the Template property.
  3. The dashboard reverts back to the default settings for a new dashboard.
