Overview

A custom sort rule lets you choose specific members of a dimension level to appear at the top, and order them just the way you want.

Adding a custom sort rule

To add a custom sort rule to a standard dimension:

  1. Go to the Custom Sort Rules tab in the Standard Dimension Designer.
  2. Click the Add Custom Sort Rule button. A new custom sort rule (Sort Rule 1) is added to the top grid and its definition is displayed below the grid.

  3. (Optional) Enter a new name for the custom sort rule by typing in the Name grid column.

In the bottom half of the Custom Sort Rules tab:

  1. The treeview on the left shows a preview of the dimension hierarchy based on the default sort order from the Level Definition tab. Expand the treeview items and select a member that you want to appear at the top (&ie; in the Top members list).
  2. Click the right-arrow button to add the selected member to the Top members list on the right. This is a tabbed list in which each tab corresponds to a specific dimension level. If your dimension has two levels, you will see two tabs (⪚ Product Group and Product Item). The correct tab will be chosen for you automatically when you add the selected member.
