This article explains the Dundas Dashboard versioning convention and describes how license files work with different versions.

All versions of Dundas Dashboard are specified as four numbers (A, B, C and D) with the following format:

  • A.B - Represents the Major version of Dundas Dashboard.
  • C - Represents the Minor version of Dundas Dashboard.
  • D - Represents the Revision version of Dundas Dashboard.

Major versions

A major release generally contains a wide range of new features in addition to all defect fixes addressed since the previous major release. Installing or upgrading to a major version release requires a new license file. If you have a valid support subscription your new license is free (just generate the new license file from the Support Site or contact your account manager).

Examples: version 4.0, version 5.0

Minor versions

A minor release generally includes all defect fixes since the last minor release, and potentially a small number of new features.

Examples: version 4.0.3, version 5.0.2

Minor releases do not require a new license file. So your license file will continue to work for all minor version updates of a particular release. For example:

  • A version 5.0 license will work for all Dundas Dashboard 5.0.x releases.
  • A version 5.0.1 license will work for the Dundas Dashboard 5.0.2 release.

Revision versions

A major or minor release may appear with a Revision number attached. A revision version is a replacement version for a major/minor release which generally incorporates a small number of high priority defect fixes. Upgrading to a revision release does not require a new license file.

Example: version 5.0.1 Revision 4
