Updating Your User Profile

Click the My Profile button in the Toolbar (while at the Home Screen) to open the Edit Profile screen.


The Edit Profile screen lets you change your password, view your current application privileges, change the default view when you log in, and optionally install the Dundas Dashboard application to your desktop so that it can run outside of the web browser.

Changing your password

To change your password from the Edit Profile screen:

  1. Click Change Password. The Change Password dialog is displayed.

  2. Type your existing password in the Old Password box.
  3. Type the new password in the New Password box.
  4. Re-type the new password in the Confirm New Password box.
  5. Click OK.

Your password is changed.

Viewing account details

The Edit Profile screen lets you view the following details about your Dundas Dashboard user account:

  • User name.
  • Full name.
  • E-mail address.
  • Type of user account (⪚ a local user account, or a Windows user account).
  • The default view that appears when you log in to Dundas Dashboard.
  • A check box indicating whether or not the Tutorial window appears when you first log in to the application.
  • List of application privileges that you own.
  • List of the Dundas Dashboard security groups to which you belong.

Changing the default view

By default, when you log in to Dundas Dashboard, the Home screen is displayed. You can change the default view to a specific dashboard as follows:

  1. Select the Dashboard option.
  2. Click the Select the dashboard button. The Select Dashboard dialog is displayed.
  3. In the Select Dashboard dialog, expand the project containing the dashboard you want as the default view.

  4. Expand the Dashboards folder.
  5. Select the desired dashboard.
  6. Click OK.

The next time you log in, the selected dashboard will be displayed instead of the Home screen.

Tip: In Dundas Dashboard 5.0.2 or later, you can also set a bookmark or mashup to be the default view.

Tip: When viewing dashboards via the Viewer.aspx page, the default view will be applied if the Dd_ContentId parameter is not specified in the URL query string.

Installing Dundas Dashboard to your desktop

Dundas Dashboard is Silverlight-based, which means you can optionally run it outside of a web browser on your desktop computer.

To enable this option from the Edit Profile screen:

  1. Click Install Application to Desktop. The Install application dialog is displayed.

  2. Select the Start menu option if you want an application shortcut to be added to your Start menu.
  3. Select the Desktop option if you want an application shortcut to be added to your Desktop.
  4. Click OK.

A shortcut that launches Dundas Dashboard outside of any web browser is added to your Start menu and/or Desktop.

Uninstalling from your desktop

You can easily uninstall the shortcuts from the Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs window (for example). Look for the program named, Dundas Dashboard, which appears without any version number.
