Overview

This article shows how to integrate the HTML Explorer with SharePoint. Technically, there isn't a specific control for you to embed - the HTML Explorer is simply a URL that produces HTML5 output. So, to integrate HTML5 dashboards into your SharePoint site, you add Microsoft's Page Viewer Web Part to a SharePoint page and then configure the Web Part to point to the HTML Explorer URL. The Page Viewer Web Part works basically like an iframe.

Enable Windows login

If your SharePoint users log in via their Windows accounts, you can configure Dundas Dashboard to also use Windows authentication so users won't have to sign-in twice. See Using Windows Login to Access Dundas Dashboard for the configuration steps.

When Windows login is enabled, users are automatically logged in by default (⪚ no need to click the Windows Login button). You can change this behavior via the AutoWindowsLoginEnabled key in the Dundas Dashboard Configuration File.

Using the Page Viewer Web Part

The Page Viewer Web Part lets you embed a web page on a SharePoint page.

HTML dashboard URLs

Configure the Page Viewer Web Part by setting its Link URL to point to the HTML Explorer URL, HTML Home URL, or HTML Viewer URL.

Here are some example URLs:

  • http://dashsvr:7000/HtmlHome.ashx

You can also have the HTML Explorer display a default dashboard upon login by specifying the ID of the dashboard using a query string parameter.

Automatic HTML login

If your Dundas Dashboard instance is using local user accounts (⪚ not using Windows accounts), you can optionally enable automatic login by directly specifying the credentials of a local user in the Dundas Dashboard Configuration File.

The automatic login option is useful if you plan on setting up a public demo or kiosk for displaying HTML5 dashboards without requiring users to log in first.

To enable automatic HTML login, go to the HTML SETTINGS section near the end of the config file, uncomment the three HtmlAutoLogin keys and set their values as shown below:

Afterwards, you must restart the Dundas Dashboard website for the changes to take effect.
