Error

Error 27502.Could not connect to Microsoft SQL Server 'Server Name'. [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).] Specified SQL server not found.

Symptoms

There is an installation failure. Installation log shows the error message above.

Cause

The installer cannot find the database server specified during installation. This might be because either the specified name is incorrect or the database server is not installed on the default port.

Resolution

1) Check if the name specified in Database Server in the installer is correct.

2) If the name is correct, then check if the database server is installed on the default port.

3) If it is not installed on the default port then along with the server name, the port on which it is installed on needs to be specified separated by a comma. i.e.

Server_Name, Port_Number

If the server is not discovered by specifying the port number, use the IP address of the server instead of the name. i.e.

IP_Address, Port_Number
