Set the Current Navigation Bar Folder from Script

Overview

This article shows how to set the current folder in the Viewer Navigation Bar from script.

Setup

  1. Go to the Design Explorer and create a Dashboards subfolder called Sales dashboards.
  2. Right-click this subfolder, select Properties, and then copy the value of the Object ID.
  3. Create a dashboard within this subfolder.
  4. Create a second dashboard within the top-level Dashboards folder.

Copy the ID of the subfolder.

Copy the ID of the subfolder.


Scripts

Example 1

Edit the second dashboard and add a Load interaction using the following script.

// Set the current navigation bar folder to a specific subfolder. services.CurrentNavigationFolderId = Guid.Parse("69fc16e3-6754-4e95-a32d-4609ce5cb149");

View the dashboard and expand the Navigation Bar. You will see that the current folder has been set to Sales dashboards.

Example 2

Edit the second dashboard and replace the Load interaction script with the following.

// Set the current navigation bar folder to the current user's ''Bookmarks'' folder. // This will be different for each user. services.CurrentNavigationFolderId = services.CurrentSession.UserBookmarksFolderId;

View the dashboard and expand the Navigation Bar. You will see that the current folder has been set to Bookmarks.
