Renaming a Project Item

Overview

From the Design Explorer, you can rename project items such as:

  • data connectors
  • virtual tables
  • virtual cubes
  • dimensions
  • Datasets
  • KPIs
  • dashboards
  • analytical dashboards
  • mashups
  • resources
  • folders.

You can rename a project item even if it is referenced by other project items.

Renaming a project item from the Design Explorer

To rename a project item:

  1. Select the item you want to rename in the Design Explorer.
  2. Click the item's menu button.
  3. From the resulting menu, choose Rename. A text box appears in place of the project item.

  4. In the text box, type a new name for the project item, then press ENTER. The name of the project item is changed.

You have renamed a project item from the Design Explorer.

Tip: You can also press F2 to begin renaming a selected project item in the Design Explorer.
