The XML for Analysis provider encountered an error

Symptoms

This error is seen in the virtual cube when it is viewed by querying the data after dropping the measures and the dimensions. The Test Connection on the data connector gives a Test Connection successful message.

Cause

The known causes for this error are:
  • There are mandatory SAP variables in the structure being used. That can cause XMLA error when dimensions are put on the axis.
  • This might be related to SAP which does not start the MDX Parser for MDX queries.

Resolution

To diagnose this issue, run SM59 on the SAP system and go to TCT/IP connections --> MDXParser Connection Test and check the result. If there is an error with this connection test, check the SAP documentation for details on how to resolve it.

The most common error is the timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV' error.
